Just returned from a six day trip to Costa Rica, a combination of golf and sightseeing that included an overnight excursion to a volcanic hot spring. Weather was warm and breezy (sure beats a foot of snow and ice!) and our chaperone guide, Ms. Sarah Chung, and local guides, Mr. Sukhee Lee and Mr... sorry, my aging brain fails here, did a fabulous job keeping everyone entertained and well fed. On long bus rides, I particularly enjoyed the local geography and historical narrations, sprinkled with personal stories and jokes that brought out much laughter. See Mr. Lee, I was paying attention! You changed my perception of Costa Rica, certainly for the better. Even the few mishaps, inevitable given the large group of 34(?) travelers, were handled smoothly -- problems with oversize luggage during check-in, lost phones(twice!), etc. Couple of minor gripes: the scenery was beautiful but the hot spring was not hot enough for some, due to the volcano being inactive for many years, and the greens were on the slow side and the fairways tended to be narrow (my excuse for the sad state of my golf game). And everyone was so nice and helpful -- thank you for all the free extra treats of soju, beer and chocolate -- and it was good to make new friends. All in all, we all had a great time and we look forward to the next one, hopefully in the near future.
